To enrol in the HGV Skills Bootcamp, drivers must hold a valid UK car licence and be employed by your company at the time of application.
The learner will need to be away from your business for the following:
You will be required to pay the non-funded portion of your HGV driver training programme upfront. For example, if your business is eligible for 70% funding, you pay the 30% non-funded portion of the cost upfront.
At the end of the training programme, you will need to confirm by email the candidate has been promoted to an HGV driver role or will use their new licence in their current role.
Yes, but It depends. If you are an individual with a firm HGV job offer (but need to obtain your licence) then there is no cost for the training at all!
Businesses with 250 employees wanting to upskill their existing employees can get a 90% subsidy. Larger companies with more than 250 employees can get a 70% funding.
The HGV Skills Bootcamp training programme covers everything from the medical and driving theory to practical training and testing. It’s a minimum 16-week training programme that takes an employee with no HGV driving experience to a competent and safe HGV driver.
If a company is upskilling an employee they will have to contribute either 10% (SME) or 30% (Enterprise) of the training cost depending on the size of the company.
If a company has agreed to recruit an individual after they have completed their HGV training course, neither the individual or the company need to pay for training. It is fully subsidised.
The course is a minimum 16-week training programme, starting with a medical test and progressing through to practical training and testing.
